Generation of 3D co-culture models to mimic the complexity of the tumor microenvironment (TME)

Growth of tumor cells in vivo highly depends on their dynamic interactions with neighboring normal cells such as immune cells, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells present in the tumor micro-environment (TME). Despite the advances in cancer research, in vitro systems which closely reflect such interactions and the complexity of TME in a physiologically relevant condition are still lacking. Qureator’s proprietary organ-on-a-chip design allows for the 3D co-culture of multiple cell types found in the TME of a specific tumor type, thus providing researchers a valuable system for:

  • studying various aspects of tumor biology
  • predicting efficacy of a drug in future clinical trials
  • selecting optimal combinations of drugs
  • using it as a high-throughput screening (HTS) platform to identify new drug candidates
